Plan del Hoyo is the life’s work of Francisco R.R. de Sola, whose family has stewarded this land in El Salvador since 1957. Originally dedicated to cattle and later timber, the farm evolved into specialty coffee in 2015 — a late-career pursuit that quickly gained international recognition, including a top placement in the 2023 Cup of Excellence. Shaped by resilience through civil war and volcanic eruption, Plan del Hoyo represents both heritage and reinvention. Today, Francisco and his sister Susana focus relentlessly on improving quality and production, welcoming roasters to experience the beauty, history, and exceptional coffees of their farm.
